Abstract
The parasite communities of marine fish, are mainly composed of ectoparasites (monogeneans, copepods and isopods) and endoparasites (digeneans, cestodes, nematodes and acanthocephalans). As well as the freshwater fish parasite communities, marine parasite communities can present both spatial and temporal structural changes, related to seasonal and/or local variations of some biotic and abiotic factors. Variations in the infection levels of some parasite species between locations may allow their use as biological tags of marine fish stocks, constituting an important tool for fisheries management. However, this important evaluation method of marine resources, it has not been used in Mexico.
