Abstract
The study of concepts understanding in linear algebra is an interesting topic in mathematics education, mainly due to the abstraction and complexity they present. A goal for the teaching of linear algebra in a mathematics degree course is that of a diagonalizable linear operator concept, therefore, based on APOS theory, a cognitive model that considers
its construction as an object is given. In addition, with the same theoretical support, a characterization of the levels of development of the scheme of the diagonalizable linear operators is proposed. A qualitative approach was followed since cognitive attributes were analyzed and interpreted individually.
