Abstract

Cadmium (Cd) is a highly toxic heavy metal, established as carcinogen. There is evidence of Cd mediated epigenetic modifications, such as changes in methylation, resulting in alteration in target gene expression. This could be attributed to changes in the expression of DNA methyltransferases (DNMTs), enzymes responsible for methylation.
