Violencia digital en adolescentes del Estado de México.

Abstract

New information and communication technologies facilitate life, but they also serve as a space for learned, reproduced, endured, and experienced violent behaviors. This study addresses the issue of digital violence among adolescents in the state of Mexico, exploring its various manifestations and coping strategies. Through semi-structured interviews, types of violence such as cyberbullying, sexual extortion, grooming, and cyberstalking were identified, revealing the complexity of this phenomenon in digital spaces. The research emphasizes the connection between virtual violence and its impacts on real life, evidencing emotional consequences such as anxiety, depression, decreased self-esteem, and academic difficulties. The typology of digital violence constructed from the adolescent perspective provides a comprehensive understanding of the experienced aggression categories. In summary, this study contributes to a profound understanding of digital violence, providing a solid foundation for prevention strategies that promote a safe and healthy digital environment for youth.
