The state of Guerrero is among the top seven places nationally in terms of bird diversity, only in coastal areas 67% of this wealth is registered. In view of this, a proposal for birdwatching tourism is presented as a strategy for strengthening local development in the community of Playa Paraíso Escondido, municipality of Benito Juárez, in the Costa Grande of the state Guerrero. In order to define the relevant problems, a questionnaire was applied to 18 members of the fishermen's cooperatives enramaderos and boatmen. A list was made of the bird species present in the community, identifying migratory seasons and those of greatest abundance, as well as species in categories of endemism and risk considered in both national and international legislation. In addition, as an ecotourism alternative, a zoning of the territory was proposed for hiking and bird watching. Finally, in order to exchange knowledge with the inhabitants of the community, workshops were held with children and adults on the identification and conservation of birds that inhabit the area. A community diagnosis was obtained, addressing social, economic, and environmental aspects. In terms of bird diversity, 93 species were identified, 35% of which are Winter migrants, nine with some degree of endemism and nine in risk categories. Zoning was proposed, divided into areas for conservation and hiking, in addition to proposed bird observatory buildings.
