Abstract

The purpose of this project was to identify sales channels for Amuzgas artisans from Cochoapa, Zacualpan and Plan de Pierna, because a lack of market was identified, insufficient support for the direct marketing of handicrafts in indigenous communities with high levels of extreme poverty. In this work, the qualitative methodology, participant observation techniques, field diary, focus group, interview and participatory workshop were used. Their employment allowed them to work directly with a group of artisans, as well as to know the social context in which they live. The information collected was analyzed and led to reflections on the structure of the handicrafts market to find better marketing channels, avoid the intermediary and thereby influence new sales spaces. Actions were generated to revalue ancestral production techniques and innovation was proposed as an element to optimize the competitiveness of the group of artisan women from the communities of Cochoapa, Zacualpan and Plan de Pierna on the Costa Chica in the state of Guerrero.
