The main goal of the actual study was evaluate the physiochemical and microbiological conditions of the meandrica lagoon basin adjoining to the mangrove area and the localities of El Carrizal and Playa Azul, Guerrero, Mexico. Physical-chemical tests showed optimal environmental conditions of the productivity oligohalina supporting that way the development of aquatic life. The microbiological analysis established the existence of pollution by coliforms, not fit for consumption and human use, exceeding the permissible limits established by Mexican law. The analysis showed oscillations due to the input of rainwater crawls, exchange with estuarine systems and anthropogenic activities that affect water quality; reasons why are required conservation actions upon this hydrological resource to prevent deterioration.
