Dengue is a severe infectious disease of viral etiology, transmitted by Aedes genre mosquitoes. Four different viruses serotypes, identified as DEN-1, DEN-2, DEN-3 and DEN-4 are know. In recent years, dengue transmission has increased significantly and has become a major public health problema. In addition to this, in recent yearsm dengue transmitting mosquitoes have adapted to higher altitudes and temperatura ranges, situation which has led to the emergence of outbreaks in regions of the world where none dengue cases had been reported.
