The Social and Solidarity Economy in Mexico has made great progress in legal and institutional matters, however, in practice it has been observed that the entities considered part of the Social and Solidarity Economy ecosystem do not function fundamentally as such. One of these entities is the Ejido, considered the most important for its historical complexities as well as for its contribution to the production of the Social Economy in Mexico. The objective of this research work was to characterize the relationship of the Ejido Tres Palos in Acapulco de Juárez, Guerrero, with ten of its Domestic Production Units. To this end, a structured interview was applied to the commissioner of the Ejido Tres Palos, as well as questionnaires were applied to the heads of families of ten Domestic Production Units. The results showed that there is an asymmetrical or disproportionate relationship between the ejido and the Domestic Production Units: it is understood that the Domestic Production Units are inserted within the ejido, but the relationship they maintain is more of an institutional nature, that is, there is only some type of link when it is the time of elections of the Ejido commissioner or when there is some issue to attend to in terms of the purchase and sale of land or when there is a dispute over disputed land; otherwise, there are no productive, economic and/or commercial links or relationships. The state of Guerrero, being one of the states with the greatest social backwardness, becomes more vulnerable to the dynamics of a system that seeks economic benefit over social benefit, therefore, the fact of considering collective functioning as a mechanism not only of social development, but also of resistance, is considered fundamental within this research. Tripartite participation between the subjects of the Social and Solidarity Economy, the State and academia is essential to achieve progress in the issues of visibility and strengthening of the ecosystem of the social sector in Mexico.
