Resumen
In this document we try to get conscious about the role of the women that are part of the Asociación de Mujeres Indígenas y Afromexicanas Radicadas en Acapulco (AMIARA A.C) who live in San Martin El Jovero, municipality of Acapulco. The objective is to strengthen the citizen committee that participates in said organization, recognizing that through this various steps have been taken contributing to improve the living conditions of the community, opening paths towards a comprehensive and participatory development that strengthens social power. In the present investigation, the qualitative methodology was used, resorting to the interview as an information gathering technique; Work was carried out in internal workshops to promote the development and empowerment of a group with the participation of women and men; We also worked with a focus group of 23 women and 5 men. The results endorsed the strengthening of organizational capacities of the social group, identified by applying the SWOT matrix, complemented with the presentation of a proposal for a local development plan with a focus on identity and sustainability. What was done helped to identify and understand the community reality of a locality with the presence of an indigenous population (Me¿phaa or Tlapaneco speaking). As a central aspect, the organized participation of women in the discussion and implementation of community development projects was promoted.
