Propuesta metodológica para el manejo de los residuos sólidos urbanos en escuelas de educación primaria.
Abstract
Within the current environmental crisis, the problem of inadequate management of Urban Solid Waste (USW) and its implications for the environment and human health, has forced society in general, including the child sector, to implement actions for environmental conservation, therefore, the school has become the appropriate setting to promote and strengthen environmental education from an early age. In this sense, this research proposes the development of a methodological proposal for the management of Urban Solid Waste (USW) in elementary schools, built from its implementation in the Ignacio Manuel Altamirano Elementary School, in the state of Guerrero, Mexico. The methodological approach of the study was based on Participatory Action Research (PAR) through three phases, the first one of diagnosis, the second one of implementation of non- formal environmental education workshops and the third one of evaluation and design of the proposal. The results highlight the joint work with the educational community (students, teachers and parents) as social actors, both in the identification of the problema and in the proposal of solutions through their own socio-educational reality and the experiences of the intervention, and finally, the scope of Environmental Education (EE) at this educational level and the relevance of the proposal in the curricular programs of the New Mexican School are discussed.
